UPDATE: below is what it was supposed to be like. As we all know, covid had different plans…
As you might have already gathered, I am a bit of a bullet journal junkie. Bujo has been a significant part of my life since 2015. I found it amazing to be able to set up everything inside a planner the way I want it. Whatever was in the spotlight in my life at a particular moment was always perfectly reflected in my bullet journal. I’ve created countless spreads that helped me stay organized throughout the year.
And then I surprised myself by deciding that, in 2020, I will mix things up a little bit.
So what happened?
I have found myself at such a point in life where I simply didn’t have enough time to carefully draft all the sophisticated bujo spreads. It might sound crazy, but being a stay-at-home mom with two kids, I had even less free time than back in the days when I used to work full time! And as much as I would have loved to keep all my affairs in a bullet journal, it was not feasible for me anymore. HOWEVER, I was not ready to give up the bujo altogether. After giving it some thought, I’d decided to stick to both a bullet journal and… a Passion Planner! Here’s how I was planning to do it.
PERSONAL AFFAIRS
2020 PASSION PLANNER
There are thousands of ready-made planners out there – why Passion Planner?
If you’re not familiar with this brand, you can read all about its concept HERE.
I absolutely love how they managed to create a tool that steers you towards your goals, but without being pushy and limiting you. It allows you to create your own mind map and a passion plan to help you reach your most important goals. There’s plenty of space to be creative, too. I was pretty sure that I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from sticking some bujo-ish spreads here and there. Old habits die hard. 🙂
Another great thing about Passion Planner is its cover. It’s soft, which makes the planner light, but at the same time extremely sturdy. Also, the designs are absolutely gorgeous!
Passion Planner comes in three sizes, and you have an option to select if you want the week to start on Sunday or Monday (a huge advantage if you live in the Middle East!). There’s also an undated version available.
BLOG AFFAIRS
BULLET JOURNAL
I’ve searched far and wide for a ready-made tool that would allow me to maintain full control over my blog & social media. And even though I found a couple of interesting ones, none of them truly met my needs and vision. Because of this, I happily settled on my own customized solution. As always, I’ve chosen my notebook really carefully. I adore THIS ONE from Minte Studio – pages are thick and so far I haven’t faced any issues with highlighters bleeding through paper. Also, it has a pen loop and the cover is really cute. 🙂
The good thing about using a bullet journal to organize blogging activities is that most spreads would only have to be created once and would last me for a whole year. I’m also able to prioritize things that are most important for me, being a newbie in the blogging world. I can make it look pretty, too. 🙂
FAMILY SCHEDULE
WIPE CLEAN WALL ORGANISER
This is something completely new for me. I know loads of moms who swear by this solution, so I decided to try it in 2020.
The concept is pretty simple. A monthly layout gives a perfect overview of what everyone in the family is up to. I really needed something like this – my current system is clearly not working. It’s only Tuesday and I’ve already forgotten about a parent-teacher meeting in Adam’s school.
I’ve already found a perfect Family Organizer in the home of all the awesome things – TK Maxx. 🙂 Can’t wait to start using it!
So as it turned out, when it comes to planning, it doesn’t have to be a “either / or” situation. Using a bullet journal and a Passion Planner together is perfectly feasible, or so it seems! I’ll update you later on how it’s working out for me!
