Centers For Children With Special Needs in Qatar

If you’ve been following our adventures for a while, you probably already know that our middle child, Danny, is on the autism spectrum.

He was diagnosed at the age of almost-4, in HMC, even though we suspected it much earlier. But that’s the subject of a whole different post. The main issue we had once we got the diagnosis, was a complete lack of knowledge about available help. We were made aware of how the public system works, but felt it was not enough. Appointments were short and not scheduled often enough. Just one example: for our nonverbal at the time child, we were scheduled one 45-minute speech therapy session every 2 weeks. Don’t get me wrong, I’m truly grateful that as expats we were able to use the public healthcare system for these kinds of appointments, but definitely needed to look for extra support.

This is why I decided to do my own research. First, I reached out to the community on my Instagram page for recommendations of Centers for Children with Special Needs in Qatar.

Then, I browsed online to find some more options, filtering out ones with a large number of bad reviews.

This is how I ended up with a shortlist of places that could potentially meet my expectations. And because I know that there are a lot of parents in similar situation, I’ll share my findings here. I strongly believe that a parent, whose little one has just been diagnosed with any kind of condition, should be able to focus on the child and ways to move forward, rather than having to google furiously to check what care options are available around town.
