
Here are some events to keep you busy in Qatar, in the month of February 2020.
Please note that Sports Day activities are excluded! There will be a separate post covering those – watch this space! 🙂
KIDS ENTERTAINMENT
Exploratorium: The Exploration of Sciences and Arts
When & Where: Feb 22 (3pm-6pm), Oxygen Park (Education City).
Fees: FREE, but registration is required (here).
About: suitable for children aged 3 years upwards; allows them to explore science through various fun hands-on activities as well as shows.
WeDo Lego 2.0
When & Where: Feb 18 – Mar 12 (Tue & Thu, 4pm-5pm), Education City Club House.
Fees: QAR 560 for 8 sessions (discount for QF members), requires registration (here).
About: open for children from 7 to 12 years, teaches them about programming their own Lego designs.
FAMILY FUN
Chinese food festival + cultural events
When & Where: Jan 17 – Feb 13, Dragon Mart mall (Industrial Area).
Fees: FREE
About: a series of events and a food festival to celebrate the Chinese New Year, suitable for a whole family to enjoy.
Metro Street Food
When & Where: Jan 1 – Apr 30, DECC Metro Station, West Bay.
Fees: FREE (but you pay for the food, obviously 🙂 ).
About: an outdoor event featuring 20 food kiosks, 4 food carts, and a mini-golf course for children.
TIME FOR SOME ART!
“Artists in Qatar” art exhibition
When & Where: Jan 11 – Feb 22 (9am – 6pm), Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum.
Fees: QAR 25 – QAR 75
About: an exhibition of work of artists residing in Qatar. Pretty inclusive, you can find contemporary pieces as well as traditional art. Features a total of 21 artists from 9 countries.
LEARN SOMETHING NEW
Drawing & Painting Workshop
When & Where: Jan-Apr 2020 (morning & evening sessions), Katara Art Studio B19.
Fees: QAR 1800, registration required.
About: open for adults and children aged 12 and above. This workshop is led by Andrii “Abhinava” Chernovil, a Ukranian artist based in Doha.
DTSME Free Digital Advertising and Marketing Seminars
When & Where: Jan 19 – Feb 25 (afternoons), various locations.
Fees: FREE, but requires registration.
About: the aim of the seminars is to assist small and medium businesses in digital transformation. It’s also a perfect opportunity for networking and picking up on international technology & marketing trends. Each seminar takes place in a different venue (check the schedule on the event website).
Soap and Candle Making (FOR KIDS)
When & Where: Feb 13 (4pm-6pm), Recreation Centre at Education City.
Fees: QAR 65 (discount for QF members), requires registration (here).
About: a hands-on workshop for kids aged 7-12, where they’ll make their own soaps and candles using natural ingredients.

Doha Triathlon 2020
When & Where: Feb 7 (6am-11am), MIA Park.
Fees: QAR 50 – QAR 500 (depending on the participant’s age & selected distance).
About: it’s a triathlon 🙂 There are many options to choose from, depending on your age and abilities, ranging from super sprint to full Olympic and individual, team relay and youth options.
Keto Diet Seminar
When & Where: Feb 8 (11am – 12:30pm), Elite Medical Center.
Fees: FREE, but registration is required (via WhatsApp @ 30771895).
About: a seminar on keto diet lead by a dietician, Aya Nour Eddine.

Doha’s Disco Fever (in support of Qatar Animal Welfare Society)
When & Where: Feb 13 (8pm), W Doha hotel, West Bay.
Fees: QAR 130
About: a fun party featuring greatest hits from the 50s through the 90s! What’s more important, all proceeds of this event will actively support “QAWS – Qatar Animal Welfare Society,” a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of animals in Qatar. Note though, you have to be 21 to enter!
Nemr Comedy Show – The Future is Now
When & Where: Feb 6 (9:30pm – 11pm), W Doha hotel, West Bay.
Fees: starting from QAR 150.
About: a brand new comedy show from Nemr, also known as the “Funny Man”.
WHAT ELSE IS THERE?
Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition 2020
When & Where: Feb 24-29, Doha Exhibition & Convention Center.
Fees: not communicated yet, if any.
About: DJWE is an annual display of over 500 luxury brands, both local and international. It is open to all, exact timings are available on the linked website.
Nile Festival
When & Where: Feb 13-14, Qatar National Convention Center.
Fees: QAR 100 – QAR 450.
About: a two-day music festival featuring top artists deriving from the Nile Basin countries (Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan). Tickets available online.
Bigbmeetup 6.0: Championing Arab Adventurers
When & Where: Feb 1, 4:30pm, Altitude Elite (Lusail Marina).
Fees: FREE
About: this is such a cool event! A panel discussion on the topic of adventure, featuring the top Arab adventurers.
